A wrongful death action was filed arising from an accident involving a truck driver and the deceased man, a bicyclist, which caused the death of the young man.

At the time of the accident, a 40-year old man was driving a white Mac Truck, which was 40 feet long, to Bloomingdales to make a daily deliver. The driver is a tractor-trailer driver for a company which delivers merchandise to retailers. The Mac Truck was owned by the company where the driver works for. The driver said he was unsure if the truck had any blindspots, that it was dark outside, and that there were street lights and lighting illuminating the area from adjacent stores.

The driver maintained that before the Truck accident, he was driving in the second lane from the left on Third Avenue and approaching its intersection with 59th Street. He estimated that the maximum amount of speed he was traveling was about five to six miles per hour. He maintained that prior to the accident he had a clear and unobstructed view of the intersection, that he did not see the deceased man in his bicycle prior to the impact, and only became aware of the accident after he had heard a loud “pop” sound emanating from the right front passenger side of the truck. At the scene of the accident, the truck driver was not issued any traffic citations, however, he later voluntarily turned himself in to the 17th Precinct of the New York City Police Department where he received a desk appearance ticket for driving with a suspended New York license.

Mother is Possible Hit-and-Run Victim

The body of a 43-year-old mother of two was found by police in an industrial part on the eastern outskirts of Matamata. Officials believe she was the victim of a hit-and-run.

The woman was wearing dark clothing and no shoes.

The suspect was probably a truck driver who is thought to have gone back to see what he hit. The victim’s 26-year-old son said that a truck driver who thought he hit something near where the body was found contacted police. He had turned around to check whether he hit something but said he did not find anything at the time.

Fire Trucks Damaged by Tractor Trailer Returning This Summer

One of the two fire engines severely damaged in a truck accidentthis past January is set to return to duty by late June. The trucks were damaged when a tractor trailer crashed into them on an icy interstate. The fire rescue vehicles were parked on the highway in a staggered position to protect rescue workers responding to a car crash.

The incident occurred during a snowstorm at about 8:30 p.m. Six firefighters were injured. They were brought to Bridgeport Hospital where they were treated and released.

Engine 1 and Engine 5 were damaged so severely, that the common thread of thought in the days right after the crash was that they’d have to be scrapped. They had been hit simultaneously by two tractor trailers while parked on the interstate in a standard protection formation.

Truck Driver Indicted in Bee Crash Turned Deadly

The driver of a semi-truck from Buffalo, Minnesota, was charged with causing a multiple-vehicle crash last May that resulted in the death of two people and an unborn child. The crash that happened in Lakeville, Minnesota, also released millions of bees on Interstate 35.

The bees severely hindered rescue efforts.

The Dakota County grand jury indicted the 37-year-old driver on charges of three counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of careless driving.

76-year-old Milk Truck Driver Dead after Driving off the Road

A tanker truck almost completely full of milk drove straight off the road when attempting a curve along Route 19 in Bergen, New York, Tuesday.

The 76-year-old driver from Perry in Wyoming County died in the crash. He was driving the milk delivery truck for a local milk delivery company.

A state police sergeant said the road was wet. “If you make even the slightest mistake you get off that soft shoulder; it’s pretty unforgiving.” A cop pointed out that the shifting load of milk would have made recovering from a mistake that much more difficult.

Congressional Legislation Aimed at Freezing Semi Weight and Length

Current proposals in the House and Senate would continue the freeze on national truck size and weight limits on Federal-aid highways. The sizes would be stuck at 53 feet and 80,000 pounds if the legislation passes.

A source says, “The bills would improve safety and prevent the excessive degradation of roadways, tunnels, and bridges.” The proposed Senate bill, called Safe Highways and Infrastructure Preservation Act of 2011, is expected to extend the present weight limit and freeze on triple-trailers. This would be applicable on all 160,000 miles of the National Highway System.

“This legislation needs to be passed to prevent serious injuries and deaths,” a New York City Attorney specializing in Truck Accidents reports.

Woman in Critical Condition after Traffic Accident

A driver was hit by a semi-truck while she travelled along interstate 75. The truck accident occurred on Wednesday at 9 am. The woman is said to be in a critical, but stable condition, explains the witness.

The driver of the car stopped the car in the emergency lane close to the State Road 200 exit. It is thought that she was experiencing car trouble and had no choice other than to stop. The driver got out of her car and stepped into the outside lane. This was when the semi-truck hit her.

The semi-truck driver attempted to slow down, but as he was too close when she stepped out this wasn’t possible. The report states that the truck driver did everything he possibly could have done to try and avoid hitting the lady.

28 Year old Killed on I-287 Remembered

The family and friends of a young victim who lost his life on Interstate 287 were grieving his loss. The 28 year old man from Port Chester was killed on the Interstate. His family and friends said that he was a much loved character and a very talented trumpet player.

The older brother of the victim said that he had a lot to offer the world. He was young and had his life ahead of him. He was very popular and had loads of friends. The brother is currently planning to travel to New York City so that he can be with his family at this upsetting time.

The police mentioned that the young man that died was very popular. He had a good personality and a great sense of humor. The friends of the victim were looking forward to the summer when they were planning to do parades.

Driver Arrested After High Speed Chase

Police in Long Island attempted to stop a driver suspected of drunken driving, explains a source. However, the driver was not willing to stop and instead took off at high speed. The police followed and this quickly turned into a very dangerous high speed car chase.

The driver is facing charges for drunken driving and also failing to stop and leaving the scene of a traffic accident.

The high speed chase started at around 3 PM. Police were alerted to the pickup truck which was driving dangerously by other drivers phoning it in. The vehicle was travelling westbound along the Interstate at high speed, with little regard to other people on the highway at the same time.

Crash Saves Truck Driver’s Life

An apple a day may or may not keep the doctor away, but the crash of an 18-wheeler saved the life of the man who was driving it. A reporter has learned that a truck driver is alive today because he wrecked his truck. On a busy highway just outside of Reading, PA, the cab of a semi sat atop a concrete barrier after the driver had blacked out due to a piece of an apple becoming lodged in his throat. At some point when the tractor-trailer struck the concrete barrier, the driver’s chest struck the steering wheel and the piece of apple dislodged and exited the man’s mouth.

A policeman in Queens was told by investigators that police found a chunk of an apple on the truck’s dashboard. They also stated that doctors backed up the truck driver’s statement that the crash had caused performed the Heimlich maneuver on the driver.

The truck driver was transported to the local hospital where he was treated for bruises, minor cuts, and a fracture in his back.
