It was a moment of inattention that cost three people their lives. Reaching for his cell phone on the dash board, a trucker lost track of where he was and rolled into a whole line of traffic, knocking cars out of the way like bowling balls.

The 51-year old trucker who was involved in an awful accident that killed three and left many others injured two years ago, was released from jail after serving 371 days of his sentence for involuntary manslaughter. The man had served a one year sentence; a sentence in part determined in consultation with the victims of the crash, explained a New York Trucking Accident Lawyer.

The facts of the case are that the trucker was momentarily distracted by reaching for his cell phone and while doing that, took his eyes off the road. The truck kept going and plowed into a line of vehicles sitting on the highway. The resulting chain reaction crash killed three and injured at least 14 others. The charges in this case were not filed until nine months after the crash, as it took that long to sort out the relevant details.

This case is an example of what “could” have happened if there had been any other vehicles around the semi that rolled on its side. That kind of a visual will bring a shock of fear to most people. Who wants to be involved in a wreck with a semi?

In this semi wreck, the big rig was heading north when it started to fishtail on slippery roads. As a result of the rear end doing its thing, the truck then rolled over on its side, blocking six lanes of traffic. Can you just imagine what would have happened if all six lanes had traffic in them when the truck went down, asked the New York Truck Accident Lawyer?

The driver walked from this crash without injuries and considered himself to be pretty lucky at that. But for the fact that there was no one else around at the time of the morning when the accident happened, both he and other drivers may have suffered severe injuries. As it was, it took emergency response crews at least six hours to repair a damaged guardrail before four lanes were reopened for use.

In the middle of last week, Wednesday to be exact, police in El Paso, Texas worked for nearly 4 ½ hours to clear the I-10 after a four vehicle collision closed it down.

In the early morning hours before the sun had even gotten up, El Paso police were called to the wreckage of the serious vehicle accident that involved one tractor trailer.

When the emergency calls were made, the callers called it a ‘hit-and-run.’ At the scene, authorities were unable to discern if one of the four present vehicles had caused the collision.

This fatality that took place in 2007 has recently been dealt with in court, where some of the charges involved were dismissed. However, the trucker driving the coal rig at the time of the accident is still facing other serious charges.

A 40-year old coal trucking company owner was initially charged with permitting homicide by vehicle, murder by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 36-year old woman. These are the charges that have been dismissed, but there are still six summary charges remaining.

The woman was attempting to make a turn onto the highway when the driver of a coal truck, a 39-year old man rear ended her car, killing her on impact and seriously injuring her son. The driver was working for the coal trucking company owner charged in this debacle, explained the New York Trucking Accident Lawyer.

A 52-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a local hospital Wednesday about 16 hours or so after he wrecked his bike into the back of a street cleaning vehicle, according to a NYC Truck Accident Lawyer who had sources at the scene.

The accident occurred somewhere between the hours of 2 am and 3 am at 47th and L Streets when the man, a resident of Omaha, says the Accident Lawyer, crashed into a stopped City of Omaha dump truck that had its flashers on, police said.

Reports from a New York Truck Accident Lawyer close to the case It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were major factors in this accident, and an investigation is currently pending, although it’s not clear how long it will take to be cleared. The driver of the dump truck was questioned and the area was dragged for witnesses, but so far none have come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to come forward with any and all information they may have available, no matter how insignificant the info may seem at the time. In a case like this, sometimes the smallest piece of information can be used to drastically help the case.

A 9-vehicle pileup in Montana has left 16 people injured and some of the law enforcement officers who were on the scene saying that was the worst series of accidents they have ever seen in at least 10-years, a New York Truck Accident Lawyer has learned.

Montana has been receiving near-record snowfall as of late. This has created snowdrifts at various points along the highways. Winds in Montana can be especially brutal, and this day they were blowing particularly hard, according to eyewitnesses that spoke with a Truck Accident Lawyer. This blowing wind decreased visibility to near nothing, and contributed greatly to the accident. The first trooper that arrived on the scene within about one minute after the van hit the snowdrift and stopped in the middle of the road.

To start all of this chain of events off, a van struck a snowdrift on Highway 2 in Roosevelt County, Montana. This, in turn, led to another vehicle striking it, and another, vehicle striking it, and on and on. This chain of events continued until a tractor-trailer drove into the last of the vehicles, and according to the deputy on the scene who told the New York Truck Accident Lawyer “the semi was like a bowling ball going through bowling pins.”

The last week of March was not a good week for trucks on the Florida Turnpike. Twice in the same week there were two separate crashes involving tractor-trailers. Crashes involving tractor-trailers are never simple, and they become even more hazardous and complex when tractor-trailers are crashing into each other.

The most recent of the week’s accidents saw a southbound tractor-trailer crash into the rear of another truck that had just pulled off the shoulder and into the path of the oncoming truck. It is unclear as to if the driver had seen the truck with its flashing lights pull from the shoulder, but the ensuing collision was nonetheless dramatic. The NY Truck Accident Lawyer also discovered that a fuel tank from one of the trucks came loose, and was struck by a Port St. Lucie woman. The fuel tank went airborne and spilled an estimated 50 gallons of diesel fuel onto the highway. This just added to the debris that was already scattered about the roadway.

To make bad matters even worse, a northbound tractor-trailer struck some of the debris that had spread to the opposite side of the highway causing it to jackknife. The driver of a box truck attempted to avoid the debris and crashed into the median. As a result of these crashes, both the north and southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike were closed for several hours as the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) conducted their investigations, and work crews cleaned up the debris from the early morning chain reaction of accidents. Fortunately, no one in any of these crashes was seriously injured. When accidents like this one take place in Brooklyn or Long Island, NY, a competent attorney is always called.
